Mud From Marz,

The Search for Sound & Essence

If punk can be defined as “you can’t define me,” then,

Quantum Mechanics may be pretty darn punk.

Quantum mechanics claims that when you take a “snapshot” of a particular phenomenon, only a superficial picture of the subject’s essence is captured.

The mission of Mud From Marz was to find the essence of the music without constricting the sound. Without formalizing a specific, repeatable marker. To work as a team synergistically to create a sound that would never faithfully represent the same approximation of the essence.

MFM could only continue to represent the sporadic nature of an everchanging, evolving, devolving, rotating, motivating, slumming or gumming or maybe inert, nature of the core. The concept of which we could only guess. Reformulating our approach every time we played.

Like jazz, baby, every musician’s next note depended on the next note of every other player in the ensemble.

AI and the speed of light can imitate this or create a variety of this but can it ever create “that?” Statisticians call it probability, pirates call it luck. I certainly can’t put a finger on it. But I sure like rum.

Oh Yeah
